The fight between Alvarez (44-1-1 with 31 knockouts) and Kirkland (32-1 with 28 knockouts) will be live on HBO, according to De La Hoya.
"We'll probably call the fight 'Explosive,' because that is exactly what it will be," De La Hoya said when the fight was originally announced. "All I can remember is being ringside in Cancun (in November 2011) and watching Kirkland destroy [Alfredo] Angulo. So when you have a puncher like that it's always a dangerous fight regardless of how long Kirkland has been away [from the ring]. This is the big fight Kirkland has wanted for a long time and now he has it.
